BADMC offer of packages

LESS THAN A YEAR after closing one of its stores and sending home about six people, the Barbados Agricultural and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) is looking to retrench once again.

Information suggests that a letter dated February 2, a copy of which was obtained by the WEEKEND NATION, is being circulated to staff, offering voluntary separation packages effective March 31, April 30 and May 31, 2015.

“This offer is not compulsory and is not binding on you or the corporation to follow through. The package being offered will be a loan, equivalent to your gratuity payment, which will be paid at the time of separation. On reaching the age of 60, you will be eligible for your pension. At this time the full loan must be repaid from your gratuity or repaid by your estate in case of your untimely death,” the letter states. (YB)
