BICO records 82% rise in profits

ITS ABSENCE from the export market is not stopping local ice cream company BICO Limited from earning profits.

Yesterday, executive chairman Edwin Thirlwell reported that – fuelled by a 14 per cent increase in local ice cream sales and an eight per cent decrease in its energy costs last year – the longstanding manufacturer increased its profits by 82 per cent.

By the time its financial year ended on September 30 last year, BICO had earned $343 422 in net income compared to $188 496 in 2013.

Speaking at a Press conference at the company’s Harbour Industrial Park, Bridgetown headquarters, Thirlwell said management and staff were getting their just deserts for sacrifice and hard work. (SC)
