FIRST IT WAS THE POMP. Then came the competition for the ultimate prize.
The pomp surely set the tone for the day’s proceedings at the Graydon Sealy Secondary School’s inter-house track and field championships yesterday at the National Stadium.
Orange House put on quite a spectacular performance, led by the well known Crop Over flag person Justin Poleon, who excited the crowd with his dance movements.
With the opening parade out of the way, it was time to get down to the real reason for being at the Stadium and it was clear to see that the hype from earlier had rubbed off on the athletes. The athletics would be an eye-catcher too as competition remained tight like a vice grip right down to the start of the relays.
Eventually, Blue finished winners, dethroning Orange, who earned 737 points. Green got 696.50, Yellow 688, Orange 519.50, White 450.50 and Red 448.50.
