No ‘IMF plan’

UTTER RUBBISH!

That was the response of Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler as he dismissed reports out of North America yesterday that the island had entered a financial support programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The Toronto Globe & Mail reported that Barbados, which it described as a “traditional powerhouse” in the Caribbean, was in danger of being unable to finance its economy.

According to the paper, which has more than one million readers: “The Government is now working on a restructuring plan with the IMF, which means two of the three traditional economic powerhouses in the Caribbean can’t support themselves.”
