THE LARGE NUMBER of animals on show at this year’s Agrofest has impressed chief executive officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society, James Paul.
As the 11th Agrofest opened yesterday, Paul said more animals were on show than previously, necessitating more accommodation for livestock.
However, he expressed disappointment with the dairy section, noting that there were only eight cows.
“For an industry that is so big, you cannot have the dairy industry being out of Agrofest. Besides poultry and pork, the dairy industry does a significant amount of business in Barbados . . . over four million litres of milk on a yearly basis and that is $10 million and they should be participating.”
