Daring rides

HISTORY WAS MADE IN BARBADOS recently at the Extreme Motion mountain biking event in Chancery Lane, Christ Church.

Damario Hinds, fresh in from Canada only the day before, soared into the evening sky and completed the first ever front flip during competition to win the freestyle event.

Competitors were judged on crowd response and it came down to a decision between Hinds and Kishmar Straker, who had also made several stunning runs, including his trademark backflip.

However, Hinds eventually emerged the leader of this invitational event, which featured only the top freestyle riders on the island. Other riders with creditable performances included Simon Joosteen, Chad Hercules and Randy Licorish.

Event organiser Licorish said he was keen to see that his expectations were realised with not only an excellent competition but also a new level of riding on the island.

The next event is slated for March 15 at Pothouse Hill in St John. It will be a downhill race and hill climb. (PR/MK)
