THE HEAD of the faculty with the largest enrolment at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus has urged financial institutions to relax their terms and conditions for students wanting access to tertiary educational funding.
“If we are to have sustainable access to university education where students have
to fund this on their own, it must be absolutely essential that the terms and conditions offered by the commercial banks, [credit] unions and finance houses converge or become rather more similar
to those offered by the revolving fund . . . which has changed some of its lending rules to make it easier for Barbadian students to meet the terms of conditions to access that funding,” said Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr Justin Robinson.
