Fraser on Carifta train

ONE OF BARBADOS’ most versatile female sports personalities, Mary Fraser, crowned her comeback to athletics in grand style on Saturday night by qualifying for next month’s CARIFTA Games in St Kitts.­

Competing in the Women’s Open 1 500 metres, Fraser showcased both speed and stamina to win the race in 4:45 minutes, well inside the qualifying time of 4:47 for Under-18 girls.

The St Lucy School athlete, who had switched to boxing and body fitness over the past two years, sprinted ahead of the 12-strong field over the first 200 metres and led for the first two laps.
