AN ATTACK AGAINST Senator Virginia Irene Sandiford-Garner startled her and then made her angry.

She was so angry that she fought her attacker, grabbed his knife and ran after him in the SuperCentre Warrens carpark on the night of October 12, 2011.

Sandiford-Garner told the court yesterday that she had parked in front of Surfside Gym about 9:30 p.m. and was about to get out of her car when her cellphone rang, and she pulled back in the door slightly to answer it.

During her conversation, she felt the door being pulled, and thinking it was someone she knew, she continued talking.

However, upon looking around, she saw a bony man who told her: “Give me the . . . phone.” (Coastline Communication)
