POLICE HAVE CHARGED a second man in connection with the seizure of a quantity of cocaine at an apartment in Dover, Christ Church.

Following the arrest of Guyanese national Roland Felix who was remanded to prison on March 9, members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged Surinamese national Benito Sylvester, a 33-year-old taxi driver.

He has been charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of cocaine.

Police say the two men arrived in Barbados and checked into the apartment at which a search warrant was later executed.

Eighty-seven packages of cocaine were discovered and seized.  These packages were reportedly passed out by Sylvester whilst at the apartment.  Sylvester was detained and referred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he passed a further 13 packages he had ingested. The 100 packages weighed a total of 1.5 kilogrammes.

The two men were expected to appear in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court today. (PR/NB)
