GIVE WOMEN tax incentives to give birth to more children.
This is advice being given to Government to entice more educated, high-income women to get into child-bearing through financial perks.
That’s the call from president of the National Organisation of Women (NOW) Marilyn Rice-Bowen in response to urgings to increase the island’s birth rate to support the country’s growing elderly population.
Rice-Bowen said there were still several businesses that did not encourage women to have multiple pregnancies, particularly during a relatively short tenure.
She lamented that many Barbadian career women limited the number of children they had or decided against children altogether because it might hinder their chances of upward mobility on the corporate ladder. (GE)
