INCREASING SPONSORSHIP, building the brand and programmes for athletes are three key areas the Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championship (BSSAC) organising committee will be working on ahead of next year’s staging.

In an interview with NATION SPORT at the conclusion of the finals recently, assistant meet director Andrew Brathwaite said that while this year’s edition was a success from an organisational standpoint, there was room for improvement.

“We have made the commitment to continue the meetings of the organising committee year round. We normally would start to meet at the beginning of Term Two or a little before that, but we have made the commitment to meet monthly over the course of the next year.

“We’ve also agreed on a suggestion from the physical education teachers to manage the inter-school cross country which is in Term One. They asked if BSSAC would take it over so we’re looking at that as well,” he said. (Green Bananas Media)
