BARBADOS BEST junior track and field athletes were welcomed back home as heroes by Government officials, family, friends and well-wishers last night at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

Minister of Sport Stephen Lashley and large contingents from Harrison College and Daryll Jordan Secondary gave high-fives and hugs to the two dozen members of the Carifta Games squad that returned home from St Kitts.

Most of the cheers were reserved for middle-distance queen Mary Fraser and sprint phenom Mario Burke, who were at the forefront of the team effort that produced seven golds.
