Burke’s world’s fastest junior

MARIO BURKE is not just the fastest boy in the Caribbean, he is the fastest boy in the world.

Barbados’ CARIFTA Games gold medallists Burke and Rivaldo Leacock are currently ranked No. 1 in their respective age group events, according to the statistics recently published by the International Association of Athletics Federations.

Burke is No. 1 in the Under-20 (junior) division in the 100 metres with his scintillating 10.21 seconds at the CARIFTA Games. He eclipsed American Christian Coleman whose reign at the top lasted one day with 10.22.

Burke is not ranked in the 200 metres.

Leacock holds the top three times in the world in the 400m hurdles among youth (Under-18) competitors.
