Cold shoulder

President of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT), Pedro Shepherd, is claiming that there has “been an almost total breakdown in communication between the Ministry of Education and the union”.

Addressing the 41st Annual General Meeting at Almond Bay conference centre last night he asked why it was difficult for the union to be heard when three former presidents had articulated the union’s role and position over the years.

In what can be described as a stinging address, he said he hoped that “we would all be big enough to agree to disagree that the interest of education and this country remains the centre of all that we do”.
