Cancer’s toll on sex organs

ALMOST HALF OF the women who die from cancer in Barbados have succumbed to breast, uterine or cervical forms of the diseases.

This is according to Minister of Health John Boyce who released the figures as he addressed the opening ceremony of the Caribbean Association of Oncology and Haematology conference at the Hilton Hotel yesterday.

The theme of the two-day event is Challenges In Cancer Care and Treatment: The Caribbean Perspective.

Boyce said the highest number of illnesses and deaths in Barbados was caused by cancer, with people succumbing to prostate, colon, breast and cervical cancers. (HLE)
