NATIONAL TEAM goal keeper Shonette Bruce showed Guardian Pride of Villa netball team why she was a top defender at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

With a tremendous leap and strong physicality, Bruce halted a bid from Villa to upstage Division 1 league champions Pine Hill St Barnabas in a game played at the Netball Stadium on Monday night with the queens winning 46-30.

Bruce had remained on the bench until the third quarter as Villa, thanks to excellent shooting from six footer Faye Sealy, who scored 26 of 32 advanced from 12-9 to trail by just one goal 21-22 at the end of the second quarter. Captain of the Barbados successful Under-16 team Shonte

Seale held the goal keeper position of St Barnabas with her elevation keeping Villa in tight rein. (KB)
