IT COULD be a September to remember for Barbadosin tennis as the country could get the opportunity to stay in Group 1 of the Davis Cup competition.

Barbados had impressive victories over much higher rated teams Chile, El Salvador and Mexico, having been promoted from Group 2, but then lost 2-3 to the Dominican Republic in March, putting the country’s ranking in jeopardy.

However, the shot at redemption could come pending the outcome of a July clash between No. 1 seeds Dominican Republic and Ecuador, who are seeded two in Group 1.

News of this development came from president of the Barbados Tennis Association (BTA), Dr Raymond Forde, in an exclusive interview with NATIONSPORT.
