A SOPHISTICATED TACTICAL unit within the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) is coming and its job will be to protect Barbados’ borders from smugglers of every kind.

This was revealed last night by Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler as he responded to concerns that when the Customs and Excise Department was merged with the BRA in July, that the country’s borders would be compromised by an agency whose main focus was to collect revenue for the state.

In the House of Assembly on Tuesday, former attorney general and minister of home affairs Dale Marshall voiced his concern that Customs’ border protection role was now in question.
