Man accused of importing drugs in washing machine

A ST MICHAEL man is expected to appear in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court today accused of smuggling more than $250 000 in cannabis into the island hidden in a washing machine.

According to police, 29-year-old Kevin Omar Murrell of 2nd Avenue Park Road went to clear a consignment at a freighting business at Brighton on Tuesday.

Members of the Customs Enforcement section of the Customs and Excise Department reportedly inspected a washing machine which was part of the consignment and found 29 packages containing the drug. The total weight was 33 pounds.

Murrell faces charges of possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation. (PR/NB)
