THE BARBADOS Workers’ Union (BWU) has thrown its full weight behind disgruntled employees of the Customs and Excise Department.
And according to general secretary of the BWU, Toni Moore, that full weight will be felt next Tuesday when the union meets with the Ministry of Finance regarding the controversial transition of the island’s Customs department over to the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA).
More than 50 customs officers and scores of customs guards yesterday aired their views to the BWU, filing into the Hugh Springer Auditorium of the BWU’s Solidarity House headquarters for a closed-door meeting with Moore and president of the Union’s Customs Division, Nicholas Mason.
