THE SPIKE in aggravated burglaries and robberies in Barbados has abated and crime generally is under control once again, says Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite.

“Things have definitely quieted down in recent weeks,” Brathwaite, who is also the Minister of Home Affairs, told the SUNDAY SUN.

He admitted there had been some panic among Barbadians between March and April this year when a number of aggravated burglaries were committed on both locals and visitors, but said he never doubted it would be brought under control by the Royal Barbados Police Force.

“We were able to capture a number of individuals who were creating a bit of mischief around the country,” Brathwaite said. “I was always fairly confident that it was a specific group of individuals involved in that particular activity, and not that crime had randomly escalated across the country.”
