WITH THE tough economic times forcing more people to set up their own businesses, Government needs to offer small firms more help with marketing and space to showcase products.
But it has been warned to make sure any programmes it implements avoids the problems that have afflicted former and current tenants of Pelican Village.
That was the message Barbados Labour Party (BLP) spokesperson on business development, Santia Bradshaw, delivered yesterday after touring the Barbados Manufacturers’ Expo (BMEX) with Leader of the Opposition Mia Mottley and her personal assistant Pat Parris.
Bradshaw indicated that Barbados could follow the lead of Cuba which had a number of locations where on a day-to-day basis, small businesses were able to promote and market their products, making use of linkages with the tourism sector, local industry and “people who can patronise the business”.
