LAST-DITCH EFFORTS are on to pull CLICO International Life Insurance Limited back from the brink of liquidation.
The good news is that the liquidation hearing originally slated for April 17, 20 and 21 was adjourned and rescheduled to be heard on June 16, 17, and 19 in the Barbados High Court – giving authorities some previously unexpected leeway to avoid winding up the company.
However, the bad news is that policyholders whose pension payments stopped “immediately” on January 15 are still not receiving one cent from the cash-strapped insurer.
