WEST INDIES and Windward Islands cricketer Andre Fletcher was arrested at the Douglas Charles Airport in Dominica this afternoon.

According to Dominica News Online, the 27-year-old Grenadian wicketkeeper allegedly had 50 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

It is understood that Fletcher has been in Dominica for several days practising with his Caribbean Premier League team, the Windward Island Volcanoes.

Manager of the Volcanoes, Lockhart Sebastian, told the online news outlet that he was aware of the arrest and will give Fletcher his full support.

“I will support him, I will not abandon him … that is the job of a manager,” he remarked.

He said Fletcher was leaving the island when the incident occurred.

He is expected to appear in court tomorrow.

Fletcher last played for the West Indies in a T20 match against South Africa in January. (NB/Dominica News Online)
