SEVERAL EMPLOYEES of the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) shed tears this week with the news that 15 of them  were being sent home.

Following a staff meeting on Wednesday, it was revealed by management that 13 of the workers would be forced to take early retirement by September 30, while two from the statutory board’s information technology department were terminated with immediate effect and reportedly escorted off the premises at Harbour Road, St Michael, by a security officer.

WEEKEND NATION investigations have revealed that the 13 to lose their jobs include two managers, four secretaries, one clerical officer, three maids, one handyman, one security guard and a receptionist. According to sources, some of those being forced to retire have been with the BIDC for more than 30 years.
