IT WAS an extra special day for Sydney Burke who celebrated her 100th birthday with friends and family at the Love and Care Citizens’ Home, Dover, Christ Church this morning.

Burke – mother of seven children, of which six are still alive – also got a visit from Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave.

Nellie Daniel, one of Sydney’s daughters and proprietor of the home, told Nation News her mother was generally well and with all faculties, nothwithstanding a slight hearing problem.

Daniel also said Sydney was a proud matriarch of over 39 grands and 45 great-grands. (JS)
