THE SHOOTING INCIDENT which marred the Christ Church Carnival last Monday has prompted calls for the resumption of hanging.
Incensed Barbadians are also of the view that bail should not be granted to those on murder charges. They have had enough of gun violence and are calling on Government to take decisive action to stem the tide before tourism becomes the next thing that is shot down.
Here are their views on the matter.
• Diana Cummins: If you can leave home with a gun to go to a carnival, that means you were looking for trouble.
• Swweetical Sweets: I don’t know why hanging don’t come back, ’cause when these idiots that walking ’bout and pulling guns pun people and shooting them, when the time come, all like them so should hang, then ya would see less crimes in Barbados and less idiots pun de streets wid guns and in jail. What our li’l country coming to?
• Ryvan Bigman: Something will be done in Barbados about all this senseless shooting and killings when one of the high-ups’ family member gets shot or murdered.
• Jozel Alexander: Lucky thing I stay home; safest place.
• Deals On Wheels: These people does ruin things for everybody.
• Tonya N.T. Best: Why people can’t go anywhere and enjoy themselves without drama and violence being involved?
• Sheryl Smith: Will we get to a stage when events have to be attended in the nude and no bags so as to avoid persons “packing”?
Spencer Everton: Barbados, you not looking good in the eyes of the international community if these behaviours keep happening.
• Jacqui Marshall: Well, so much for crime being under control. How long did it last, one whole day?
• Luther Legends: And Government wants to set up a parole board – joke.
• Christine Bullock: Guns are too easily accessed by idiots. They need to enforce gun laws in Barbados. The punishment is not harsh enough. It’s happening here in the United States everyday. These kids need to be held responsible for their actions.
• Andy R. Boyce: Until we start charging these fools under the terrorist act, we will never put a dent in the lawless behaviour. To have people fearing for their lives is a form of terrorism. We have the laws on the books and they seem to think that you have to be wrapped up in bundle of cloth to be a terrorist.
• Romel Watkins: Time to take the bull by the horns, enforce the laws and take no prisoners.
