THERE’S BEEN too much “double talk”, silence and plain misleading information about marijuana, while young people continue to be major casualties of the illicit drugs business.
Government backbencher James Paul made this complaint yesterday as he delivered the weekly lunchtime lecture of the Democratic Labour Party at party headquarters in Belleville, St Michael.
Paul said parents and other adults, including members of the “bureaucracy”, had to take the blame for some of the inroads made by the illicit drugs business because of the nature of their comments, or even lack of comments, about the scourge.
He spoke of the “danger of parents passing on an aura of invincibility to their children when it comes to marijuana”, adding: “The true dangers of the drug are not being appreciated.” (TY)
