Time to feed ourselves

BARBADOS AND THE wider Caribbean must put greater investment into food production and protect their agricultural sectors.

This was the cry of Minister of Agriculture,  Dr David Estwick during his contribution to the 2015 Budget debate late on Wednesday night.

He lamented the amount of money being spent  by the region on food imports which he placed at $10 billion while noting that Guyana, Suriname and Belize had the available land which could produce the region’s food requirements.
