No end in sight to seaweed onslaught

THE SARGASSUM WEED invasion of Barbados’ beaches is nearing crisis proportions.

Not only does it continue to inundate beaches on the rugged north and east coasts, but it has been overwhelming Barbados’ most popular beaches along the south coast.

From Oistins in Christ Church to Browne’s Beach outside the City, our famed white beaches are awash with the greenish brown smelly weed from their shorelines to the surf.

And the problem is, there seems no end in sight as to when it will stop decimating our shores.
