KIERON POLLARD put on a Man-Of-The-Match performance in a brilliant all-round display to lead the Barbados Tridents to a comprehensive 49-run win over Guyana Amazon Warriors in the opening match of the Hero Caribbean Premier League at Kensington Oval on Saturday night.
Pollard hit a robust 48 off 26 balls to lead the home side to 158 for six and then took two wickets for 19 runs off his allotted four overs as the Warriors folded for 109 in 18 overs.
Left-arm spinner Robin Petersen (three for 31) and pacer Ravi Rampaul (three for 16) made several timely strikes as the Warriors found themselves under pressure from as early as the second over when Jason Holder’s direct hit found Lendl Simmons short of his ground.
