THE CLAIM that Opposition Leader Mia Mottley is not eligible to practise law has been rejected.
Sir Henry Forde, a former Opposition Leader, who like Mottley, is also a former Attorney General, described as “alarming” and “considerably disappointing” the recent charges raised by three parliamentarians during debate of the 2015 Budget in the House of Assembly.
Ministers Michael Lashley and Dr Denis Lowe claimed Mottley did not possess the Legal Education Certificate, while Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite committed his office to investigate.
But, Sir Henry, who introduced Mottley to the Bar in 1987, told the SUNDAY SUN that he had “a duty to lay to rest any imputation that Miss Mottley is not properly admitted to the Bar of Barbados.”
