Home boost for Bajan swimmers

BARBADOS TOOK FULL ADVANTAGE of being at home to come away with their best ever performance at the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) Swimming Championships over the past week.

The pool swimming component of the championships was completed at the Aquatic Centre on Saturday night and the Bajans ended the championships with 53 medals. Barbados won 19 gold, 18 silver and 16 bronze medals – a vast improvement over the 29 medals they won in 2013.

At the top of the medal standings were Trinidad and Tobago with 26 gold, 13 silver and 2 bronze while Puerto Rico won 15 gold, 20 silver and 16 bronze medals.

Barbados finished third in the points standings with 574 points, also an improvement over 2013 where they finished seventh. Puerto Rico ended on top with 878.33 points with Costa Rica second on 768 points.
