Clarke grabs gold for Barbados

ALEXIS CLARKE added another gold medal to the Barbados tally at the Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation Championships by winning an Open Water 5K race yesterday in Carlisle Bay.

While Clarke was basking in the glory of her gold medal, the Trinidad and Tobago contingent was busy ensuring that one of their swimmers was not badly injured during the race.

There was pandemonium in the water during the 18-and over Boys’ Open Water 5k with one of the swimmers getting into difficulty and having to be rescued by officials. (PG)
