HAITI IS READY to receive the hundreds of Haitians fleeing back home because of immigration difficulties in neighbouring Dominican Republic, but it must be done in an orderly manner.
This is the position of Haiti’s President Michel Martelly, who said yesterday: “It is not like we don’t want Haitians at home. We do. We are ready to receive our Haitians at home; we just want to make sure it is done properly.”

Concern has particularly been expressed about the apparent harsh treatment meted out to some of them in the process, as photographs of deported Haitians awaiting deportation may have suggested. (GC)
