Sick, no job, no money, no one to help

LIFE JUST KEEPS going downhill for Celene Best.

From being afflicted with psoriasis, a severe skin condition which made employment impossible for the last 18 years, and interaction with others extremely difficult, through to the death of her husband last August, Celene has had one bad experience after another.

Today though, she faces possibly her most difficult challenge. She has been told to pay $500 per month in rent for the two-bedroom unit in which she has been living in the Grazettes housing area, St Michael, since 1995, or vacate it.

Her first payment was due on July 1. Having failed to pay, she has to leave by August 31. Celene’s problem is that she just does not have the money to pay the rent. (SP)
