THE ONCE PREMIER EVENT of the Run Barbados series is back on track again.
Three years after appearing to have run its course, the full marathon is making its big comeback to the country’s road race festival as the centre piece of a rebranded Run Barbados Series in December.
Newly installed race coordinators Island Races announced the event’s much-awaited return during yesterday’s Press launch of the Run Barbados Marathon Weekend at the Barbados Tourism Management Inc. headquarters in Warrens.
“Our research tells us that this is one of the primary reasons why runners take to the global road race circuit and we want to regain our share in that market [plus] it is our belief that the marathon is the marquee event for any road race series, so we thought with good marketing and good promotion that Barbados again will be seen a top destination for marathons,” said Island Races event director Zary Evelyn.
