How long have you been on the music/entertainment scene? I have been singing since I was three years old but professionally I’ve been in the business for about 12 years.

When did you figure out soca/calypso was the path you are going to take? In 2013, I decided to expand my repertoire a bit and gave soca a go. So far it has landed me on the stage with Machel Montano and festivals across the globe including China.

When would you say people started to take notice of you? This would be from the Honey Jam showcases however they really paid attention when they saw me alongside Machel performing Haunted.

What is the lowest you have ever been in your career? About five years ago. The frustration came from the rejection I was facing at the time but where one door closes another always opens. Always!!

Hardest lesson you have learnt as a female in the music industry? The hardest lesson I had to learn is that the business of music never stops. It’s 24/7 and the effort to stay focused and set on your goals has to be sustained. There’s no let up!!

What is your most memorable moment? Performing in China! They were so receptive to soca music, a genre that most of them never heard of before but were so intrigued and moved by the beats and rhythms that it didn’t matter.

As a female artiste how important is image to you? Image is important, yes. However for me, it was always about being respected for my talent first and my image the bonus.

How do you stay grounded? My family keeps me grounded, that’s it. No matter how big the accomplishment, I’m always reminded of what’s most important in life and that’s family!

How do you turn off and get away from it all? There’s no turn off for me, music is always on my mind. I’m always researching artistes old or new, local or international looking to take my music to the next level.

What is your focus now in terms of your career? My focus right now is to dive straight into producing great music that would last forever.

What are your thoughts on entering competitions? Competition is good. I wanted to enter this year to experience the process and I have no regrets. I had an absolute blast on stage and the response from the crowd was amazing. I am a reserve in Sweet Soca Finals.

As an entertainer any risks that you took that paid off or didnt paid off? Absolutely!!! Over the years so many risks were taken and I’d have to say that the one risk that paid off was travelling to Trinidad to pursue soca. It has definitely opened up a lot of doors in my career thus far.

Favourite song in your catalogue? My favorite song to perform at the moment is Wine Gyal that I am in Sweet Soca finals with as a reserve.

Pet peeve? People who make a big deal out of nothing. Life is way too short!

If it wasn’t music what would it be? It was always music and forever it will be.
