Alternative fish plans ‘in the net’

A FISH farmer is sending a shot across the bow of importers of frozen fish that she aims to be a significant player in creating an alternative fish stock for the Barbados market.

This message is coming from Kristina Adams, of Adams Aquafarms, following a tour of the location by 22 participants of the Youth Agri-preneurship Incubator Programme who were attached to the commercial farm in St Thomas on Tuesday.

“We try to spread our risk by setting up a number of tanks . . . . For the tilapia we used six tanks and for the crayfish we are actually using about 14 tanks,” Adams told the media after a tour of the facility led by Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer.
