Dizzy spell first sign

EIGHTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Joyce Small thought she was falling ill when she suddenly began feeling dizzy while shopping at Massy SuperCentre, Warrens.

It was only after she went to the pharmacy for medication that she discovered she was just feeling the effects of the tremor that rattled Barbados at around 11:15 yesterday morning.

“I went and held on to the stand where the potatoes are [shelved] because I felt dizzy. With me anything could happen. When I got to the pharmacy to collect my medication I heard everybody talking about this earth tremor. I said, “Oh, I thought it was me’,” said Small.

Many other shoppers rushed out of the supermarket after feeling the tremor, a store official said.
