Keen juniors go for crowns

THE 30TH EDITION of the Junior Calypso Monarch Competition climaxes this evening with the finals at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.

Having not performed since last week Wednesday at the lunchtime concert at the Frank Collymore Hall, the 18 finalists have been working on their presentations, getting their costumes in order and trying to stay in good voice for tonight’s battle royal.

Will defending monarchs Raanan and Sammy G get one last win before exiting the eight to 12 and 13 to 18 categories respectively?

Will there be a new monarch in both or one of the categories? Will the young stars who have been shining before audiences all season be crowned, or will one of the less popular contestants step up in a major way and cause an upset? (YB)
