LAWYERS FOR WORKERS forced into retirement by the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) moved yesterday to halt the corporation’s attempt to have its actions validated.
The BIDC filed an application to have the court declare that the corporation’s board should have the discretion to retire officers who have reached age 60, but attorney Gregory Nicholls, who is representing seven of the ten workers, urged the Supreme Court to stay BIDC’s application.
Nicholls submitted yesterday before Justice Jacqueline Cornelius that the BIDC’s application was too narrow and did not dispose of all the issues that had arisen before the parties involved.
