THE Barbados Light & Power Company (BL&P) has not been involved in any discussions on the multimillion-dollar waste-to-energy project by Cahill Energy.

Peter Williams, managing director of Emera Caribbean, the company that owns BL&P, made the disclosure yesterday during the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry business luncheon at Hilton Barbados.

“We are not a third party or familiar with all the details of the Cahill project,” Williams said.

“I must admit I am not on the ground in terms of day-to-day operations with Barbados Light & Power but I’m not aware that any discussion have taken place to say, ‘here’s the structure of how that deal would take place and, therefore, here’s how we would be involved’. I’m not saying it won’t happen or will not come to the fore at some point. I’m just saying today it’s not a discussions we’ve been involved in.”
