Barbados go down to New Zealand in netball

BARBADOS LOST the opening match of the 2015 Netball World Cup 73-28 to New Zealand early this morning at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia.

After a close 5-2 start, New Zealand stamped their dominance on the game and ran away with the win.

Barbados struggled to get the ball past the midcourt and there was even greater difficulty feeding the shooters, who had 33 attempts, compared to New Zealand’s 96.

Malia Paseka led New Zealand with 28 from 38 and starting shooter Bailey Mes had 12 from 15.

Shonica Wharton had 14 from 16 to top the Barbadian shooters. (SAT)
