BRIDGETOWN – August 3 brought the curtain down on the BTMI’s annual Crop Over press trip, which allowed 24 influential media from across the Caribbean, Canada, the USA and the UK to experience the true spirit of the festival.

Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Richard Sealy, greeted the group at Ocean 2 Resorts & Residences and encouraged them to use their influence to highlight Barbados as the total vacation experience.

He also welcomed the presence of several first-time participants, particularly the digital media representatives within the group stating that their presence would go a long way in strengthening Barbados’ image online among potential travellers.

A number of the journalists took to the streets in full costume eager for a first-hand taste of the Foreday Morning Jam and Grand Kadooment.  In addition to the major Crop Over climax events, they toured Harrison’s Cave, enjoyed a catamaran cruise, took a submarine dive and attended a number of private parties.

From all accounts the trip was an all-around success with several participants remarking at how the island’s flagship festival had evolved over the years and at the diversity of high quality events available.

According to BTMI’s director of marketing, Robert Chase, following this media trip the island is expected to net more than seven million impressions among key demographics. (PR)
