DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Barbados Bearings Progressive narrowly averted an upset when the Goddard Enterprises Limited senior volleyball knockouts were served off on Monday night at the Wildey Gymnasium.

The attack of Barbados juniors Andriy Stapleton, Ahkeem Mayers and Paul Doughty had taken the first two sets from Progressive. Stapleton was brutal from every point of the court while Doughty seized every chance to show that he can attack as well as set.

However, some liberal substitutions by the Juniors in the third set then let Progressive off of the hook with veteran Fabian Cox, Akeem Payne and 6-foot 5-inch Chioke Holder squeezing out the win 16-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-22, 18-16.
