YOUNG CAMPERS of Unique Helping Hands Summer Camp were given a treat yesterday when they were given a tour of the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) office at Parliament yesterday morning.
The 22 young campers were given a tour of the museum, after which they settled in the conference room for a brief chat with Cynthia Forde, MP for St Thomas and Santia Bradshaw, MP for St Michael South East.
Beverly Moore, acting camp director, explained that the eight week camp was geared toward children aged four to 13 years of age. Their motto was “Education Through Interaction”, and so they took the children on various tours across the island to familiarise themselves with places of interest, get hands-on experience in various areas, as well as to meet different personalities within society.
Commenting on the experience, Forde said: “It is very critical to have children visit Parliament. The history of Parliament, the history of our leaders, and the history of the democratic process in Barbados is one of the oldest in the region, and I am happy to share it with these youngsters.” (RA)
