DEACONS men and Pan American International Insurance Warrens women, who were the losing finalists in last year’s Goddard Enterprises Limited Senior Volleyball Knockouts, barely averted losses at the Wildey Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

Deacons and Warrens were carried to five sets by teams that perennially occupy the cellar position in Division 1.

Deacons were down 11-13 in the decisive set against Christ Church Foundation before pulling off a 27-25, 25-20, 15-25, 21-25, 16-14 victory.

Warrens surged from two sets down and a 25-9 hammering in the third set to defeat Carlton 25-23, 20-25, 9-25, 25-16, 15-9.

A brutal slugfest from Darien Seale had put Foundation in the unexpected position of stunning Deacons in spite of tremendous counter from Kyle Browne and Sheldon Roach.
