St Catherine still out front

ST CATHERINE are still the front runners in the Elite cricket Division after a dramatic win yesterday.

A career-best nine-wicket haul by left-arm spinner Derick Bishop propelled Brathwaite Construction/Crane Resort St Catherine side to a sensational last over victory by eight runs over E.S.A. Field Pickwick at Bayfield.

Bishop took nine for 59 from 12.2 overs for match figures of 15 wickets for 141 runs from 52.4 overs to be the leading wicket-taker for the season with 40 wickets. His team now lead the championship table by ten points.

The visitors were set 154 to win in 27 overs after the home team declared at 241 for eight in their second innings. Pickwick took their overnight 274 for nine to 279 all out with Bishop snaring six for 82. Alcindo Holder’s blistering 96 from 69 balls with seven sixes and four fours enabled the home team to make a sporting declaration. (Harold Eastmond)
